Eldis La Rosa

ELDIS LA ROSA is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. He started his musical education in Cuba at the age of seven and graduated in saxophone and percussion. In Cuba, he played in numerous bands and taught at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Artes in Havana.

Arriving in Vienna at the end of the 90s, he began working as a musician and arranger and founded his own band, the Eldis La Rosa Group. He now plays with important artists from the Austrian music scene (Otto Lechner, Alegre Correa, Jon Sass) and tours between international festivals and renowned local stages (Porgy & Bess, Szene Wien, Konzerthaus, Radiokulturhaus, Spielboden and many more).

He was guest of honour at the Radio/TV and Symphonic Orchestra in Warsaw and has participated in numerous CD, theater and TV productions. For his children’s album ‘Parampampín’, he received the Cuban music prize ‘Cubadisco’ in the category music for children.

In 2017 he composed the music for the stage play ‘Quijote’ (Nicolaus Hagg after Cervantes) as part of the Theater Summer in Haag, as well as for the ORF TV documentary Herbert Brandl. Art and Obsession.

Eldis La Rosa is currently working with the ‘luthier’ Hans Tschiritsch, the actress & storyteller Birgit Lehner and his own quartet, Eldis La Rosa & Colores.
