about

Since Barack Obama and Raul Castro took their famous handshake in 2014, Cuba and its vibrant and spirited music have once again taken centre stage.

While the rich and varied genres of Cuban music styles feed the inspiration of the saxophonist and versatile instrumentalist, Eldis La Rosa, his true passion lies in Latin Jazz.

He allows European and African elements to flow into his subtle and nuanced compositions, and takes his audience away from the Cuban musical clichés of Salsa and „Buena-Vista-Social-Club“.

Eldis moved from Cuba to Vienna in 1997 and he has since been playing extensively on Austrian and European stages. Through his introspective interpretations he succeeds in looking into one’s soul without the music losing its Caribbean flavour.
